Raleigh Integrated Pest Management
Do you know what Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is? It’s ok if you don’t – that’s what we’re here for. Integrated Pest Management is basically just a fancy way of describing a pest control method that incorporates common sense in the treatment plan in addition to more common pest control practices.
- Sets action thresholds: He determines a point at which control action must be taken. Is it after sighting one pest? A colony? It all depends on the type of pest and environment.
- Monitors and identifies pests: It may not seem like it, but some of those critters hanging around your yard don’t cause any harm…some are even beneficial! Your Raleigh pest expert will study the problem to make sure pesticides aren’t used needlessly.
- Prevents a problem: It’s easier to prevent a problem than solve one, right? Before using any drastic measures, IPM professionals first suggest and implement methods to stop a problem before it starts. Sometimes these steps are as simple as giving your dog a flea bath or sweeping cobwebs out of the corners.
- Controls the pests: If there’s a full-fledged infestation, whether it’s termite, roaches, or something else entirely, your exterminator evaluates a control method considering both risk and effectiveness. Effective, less risky methods are used first, with harsh chemicals saved as a last resort.
